Thrilling Day

Well, I've done quite a lot today. Where can I start ?

I guess I'll start from the beginning. I woke up this morning at around 11AM, oversleeping my alarm at 9AM, and made my way out of the house out to Gurnee Mills. I had a quick look at my computer for a few minutes to see what films were playing. I seen that "Garfield : A Tale Of Two Kitties" is playing, "Click" is playing, and "An Inconvenient Truth" is playing too. So, I seen that "An Inconvenient Truth" was playing at the Marcus theater in the mall. Since it's a film that I wanted to see for awhile now, I made my way over there and was struck right on the face that they only accept credit cards, since it's an automated machine with no one attending it. That sucks (since I don't have a credit card at the moment). So I had a quick look in the stores and didn't buy much (I only bought lunch at the Sbarro pizza place in one of the food courts), and then found out that they added a Merry-Go-Round near the one foodcourt, where a spinning light display once stood. (I remember seeing the thing disappearing one time with a milkcrate sitting over the electric box that was exposed). Definately worth seeing that the space going to be put to better use than it was before as only display. They added several stations for rentable carts, a few new games on the mall floor, that sort of thing over time when I've been there on many occasions.

I had a quick look in the Micomp computer shop and had a light look around. I didn't buy anything (saving money right now) but a laptop did interest me. It was a Pentium 3 laptop that was ultraportable by Dell (I think it was a Latitude, didn't really get many details on the model number) but I believe it was 1.0GHz, 30GB HDD, WiFi, and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive. The price tag was $500.00, and I've always wanted a ultraportable computer to make it easy on travel. I dunno. For now it's only all in thoughts. :)

So, since my day appeared to be ruined for that movie, I drove for only a few minutes over to Six Flags Great America and spent 5 hours of my day at the park instead. This time, I spent a lot more time at the park than I did over the past few times and went on more rides. I went on The Viper 2 times, The American Eagle 2 times (once on the Red train and once on the Blue train), and on The Raging Bull around 4 times lol (I love that ride, it's so thrilling). They have a car ride there where you drive a really old car on a track that has a rail on it (so you don't get off course), and only has one pedal (the gas pedal). The line wasn't long for that, but the car I had sucked. They have a lever on the left side of the thing that acts as the brake when the gas pedal is not pressed on, so most of the time I was holding that bar towards me (letting it off the brake) and holding on the gas pedal. The thing was literally shaking me to death, it's one thing that I probably won't bother waiting in line for or even going on again.

As what Uber was telling me in an MSN Messenger Conversation the other day, he said that a day at a theme park isn't complete unless you get wet. Taking into consideration on what he said to me, I went on "Raging Rapids", a log-flume sort of ride, but not as advanced or complicated. Basically you get into a boat and you're taken up a lift, go around a curve, and then go down, and get SOAKED. You wade around a course all soaked and then get unloaded from the boat. On the exit, you have to walk over a bridge that's over the ride, and when a boat goes down, it splashes a TON of water onto the bridge, getting whoever's on it wet even more. So I stuck around for the next boat and got even more soaked. :P I rode on The Raging Bull the other 2 times and got myself somewhat dry.

One of the other rides I went on was an observation tower ride at the park, where you get into a huge doughnut-shaped glass room and sit on a bench going around it, and you get lifted up from the ground. On the entire ride, you're spinning around slowly and a pre-recorded speech goes on about information about the park. Honestly, when I was up there, the park looked small. But from walking completely around it once, it's huge. I never really knew what everything looked like above before until today when I went on that ride. (Arial photographs don't exactly cut it, especially when they're in black-and-white, lol).

If I was reading the flyers and banners around the park correctly, it looks like that Tony Hawk was going to be at the park today and tomorrow to put on a show. I didn't see the show, but when I was on the observation tower ride, I seen that 103.5 KISS FM was there, amongst other stations that I'm not too familliar with.

By the time I got out of the park, it was already around 5:00PM. I called Steph up on my cellphone and asked her to look up show times for "Garfield : A Tale Of Two Kitties" at the Regal Cinema in RLB. She said the next showing time was 6:40PM. They ordered me dinner (beef sandwich) and it arrived right around the time I got home. I ate dinner quickly and headed right out the door to the movie theater to see the new Garfield movie.

It looks like that they charge more for tickets in the evening than they do in the mornings or afternoons. In the mornings and afternoons it's $6.50. It was $7.25 when I bought it in the evening today. It wasn't much of a big deal for being charged $0.75 more, but I still got my free popcorn. :P I was still surprised at the amount of people were in the theater with me, only like 5 more besides me. :P The new Garfield movie is great, it's well recommended by me. It's supposed to be mainly set in England, but in a few scenes they show parts of the U.S., the familliar town where John, Garfield, and Odie live in the first movie. It's as funny as hell. :P

On my way home from the movies, I stopped in Kmart for a few minutes. I went into the toy section of the store in search of a Rubik's Cube (I didn't find one), but, instead, I found an electronic toy called "20Q" where it's supposed to read your mind on the object you're thinking of by asking you 20 questions that you're supposed to respond to. If it doesn't get the guess right after 20 questions, it continues on with more questions. (The first time I played it I was thinking of "Computer", and it got it, the second time I played it I was thinking of something quite uncommon, "Cash Register"). It said that "YOU WON THIS TIME" and asked if I wanted to play again. I was gonna buy it but it was a bit expensive ($10.00). I read the back of it and found that it was actually based off of the website www.20q.net. I played the website version of the game and it's actually a little more interesting than the handheld version, since it goes a lot quicker than the handheld one. Still, it's one more thing in my bookmarks to reminisce about later. :P

It's amazing what you can read on Wikipedia. I did a lot of searches for a lot of the bands and singers that I like to see if I can rank up more and more songs in my collection of music, but not much success. I only got one song out of it, it's called "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls (it's actually their first radio hit in the U.K. that went over here to the U.S. in the early-to-mid 1990's). I was reading up on some of the details about some of the artists I was searching and found a lot of the bands and singers that I like made their songs in mainly the 1980's, the 1990's, and the 2000's. There's not one thing older than the 1980's.

I was actually pretty amazed to see that Kaci Brown (she uses "Kaci" on all of her songs) is actually 11 months older than me (she was born in July 1988, where I was born in June 1989) and is making a ton of money from her music. I feel a little bit intimidated that she started to sign record contracts around the age of 13. :( Fuck. It's sickening to see how young people can get and earn a shit load of money from it. I heard that the Olsen twins were born into being TV actresses and are worth $150 million dollars each (that's $150,000,000.00 people !!). That there is a lot of zeros. Fuck, what's this world coming to ?

Anyway, I'll end this entry here.

Sad to say, I haven't been on the Superman ride yet. There's only like 4 rollercoasters in the park (presently) that I've been on.

- American Eagle
- Raging Bull
- Viper
- Whizzer

- Giant Drop (I've only been on this once, it's still at the park, it's very frightening, I haven't been on it recently)

I've been on one more coaster before they took it down and put the Superman ride in place of it (thank god, I hated that ride after I rode it) called Shockwave.

I'm thinking of other coasters at the park that I haven't really been brave enough to go onto yet lol (I'll go on them someday) :

- Iron Wolf
- Vertical Velocity (V2)
- Dejavu
- Batman
- Demon
- Superman

Maybe I'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to coasters. :(
